Legacy giving, also known as leaving a gift in your will, is a meaningful way to extend your compassion beyond your lifetime.

Legacy gifts play a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare across Mid Yorkshire. They help to fund new equipment, refurbish wards, support specialist training, and provide comfort for patients and families. Every legacy gift, large or small, leaves a lasting mark on our hospitals and community and supports medical innovation and compassionate care.

How to leave a gift in your will

Leaving a gift in your will is simple and flexible. Here’s how you can make a difference:

1. Decide on your gift 

Choose one of the following: 

    • A specific sum of money (pecuniary gift).
    • A percentage of your estate (residuary gift).
    • A particular item such as property or jewellery (specific gift).

2. Include us in your will 

Provide your solicitor with the following information:

    • Charity Name: MY Hospitals Charity Registered Charity Number: 1067163
    • Address: MY Hospitals Charity, Fundraising Team, Pinderfields Hospital, Aberford Road, Wakefield WF1 4DG 

3. Suggested wording for solicitors 

“I give to MY Hospitals Charity (Registered Charity Number 1067163), Pinderfields Hospital, Aberford Road, Wakefield WF1 4DG, the sum of £_____ (or ___% of my residuary estate) for its general charitable purposes.”

4. Update your will If you already have a will

Your solicitor can help you add a gift through a simple amendment (codicil).

5. Let us know (optional) 

Sharing your plans helps us thank you and keep you informed about the difference legacy gifts make.

 

Please note: Gifts to registered charities are exempt from Inheritance Tax. Leaving a gift to MY Hospitals Charity could reduce the overall tax liability on your estate while supporting future healthcare improvements. We recommend speaking to a solicitor or financial adviser for guidance.
