Here are some of the ways you'll make a difference by fundraising for Dewsbury.
Volunteer Wheelchairs
Dedicated wheelchairs for volunteer guides will improve patient comfort, reduce delays, and support smoother journeys around the hospital. These wheelchairs will help our volunteer guides in supporting patients in our hospitals, allowing the hospital experience to feel more comforting and care focused for our patients in need.
Cavell Unit - Dewsbury
Refreshing a high-footfall chemotherapy waiting area to create a warmer, calmer, and more comfortable environment for patients and families. Chemotherapy can be an incredibly uncomfortable experience for patients going through a difficult stage in their life. By making the room feel warmer and calmer, we hope to provide a sense of reduced anxiety and stress for the high footfall of patients and families that visit.
Children’s Outpatients - Dewsbury
Transforming an outdated waiting area into a forest-themed play and sensory space where children can relax, play, and feel at ease. Hospital visits can be stressful and isolating for young patients but play has been proven to reduce anxiety, reinforce emotional resilience and even aid recovery. With your help, we can create a dedicated indoor play and sensory space at Dewsbury and District Hospital's Children’s Outpatients Department which will support a therapeutic environment that benefits both children and their families during challenging time

Dementia Bus Stops
Dementia-friendly bus stop wall vinyl's and seating to reduce anxiety, encourage positive interaction, and provide familiar, calming spaces. These will be rolled out into our elderly wards to support patients who may need that extra bit of care. By providing a familiar, calming space, patients can feel more at home in our wards — meaning a smoother and more involved recovery.
Arts for Health Projects
Bringing creative activities into the hospital helps reduce anxiety, improve mood, support recovery, and helps the hospital feel more welcoming. Being in hospital can keep patients away from hobbies and interests, making them feel like they lose a sense of self. By bringing in creative outlets for expression, it not only let's patient put feelings onto the page but helps those around them understand how they may feel at difficult times of recovery.
Projects supported will include visual art, music, workshops and performances.
Ward 2 Patient Day Room
Upgrading a tired patient lounge with new artwork and a refreshed colour scheme will significantly improve comfort, social connection, dignity, and overall wellbeing for elderly patients. A more welcoming and thoughtfully designed space can help reduce feelings of isolation and anxiety, encouraging patients to spend more time in a communal environment where they can interact with others. This sense of connection is especially important for older individuals, who may otherwise feel lonely during long stays.
