Celebrating 150 years of Dewsbury!

MY Hospitals Charity is proud to be celebrating 150 years of Dewsbury and District Hospital and its place in the heart of the Dewsbury community. To celebrate we are asking the local community to work with us and raise money for a new Dewsbury Community Fund, which will fund improvements to the hospital and hospital environment, as well as local community projects – bringing everyone together to do more for Dewsbury.

We will also be holding a number of events and activities.

150 Stories

Dewsbury and District Hospital sits at the heart of the local community. Over it’s 150 years of history it has impacted so many lives and we would love to celebrate that. We are asking people to share their stories of the Hospital through the years – whether that be as patient, staff, volunteer or a member of the local community.

A new fund for Dewsbury

To mark the 150th anniversary of Dewsbury we are establishing a new fund. The aim of the Dewsbury 150 Fund is to bring the community together to create: more green spaces and creative projects; an improved hospital environment and facilities; and projects that support local communities. To do this we need your help. Through this year we want as many people as possible fundraising for their local hospital and community. This can be anything, but why not make it 150 themed!

Bake 150 cakes, run 1500 miles, skydive 15,000ft... you get the idea! You can request a fundraising pack, or register your activity here: midyorks.myhospitalscharity@nhs.net

August

Summer of thanks: The Summer Fair at Dewsbury and District Hospital will celebrate and thank NHS staff while bringing together the wider community. The event will include family friendly stalls, games, entertainment, and a dedicated staff appreciation area, with support from local businesses and volunteers.

October

Halloween Toddle: Get your little ones together and join us for our very first Halloween Toddle around our beautiful 150-year-old site! Each child will receive a glow stick, and you may even bump into some very special guests along the route… We’ll also be hosting a Halloween Market, so feel free to join us in enjoying the celebrations!

November

Comedy Night — Be prepared for a night full of laughs and good times with friends! More details coming soon.

December

150 Voices Showcase: Join us as 150 voices come to sing as one in celebration of 150 years of Dewsbury and District Hospitals. This finale event promises to be a truly special moment, with the potential for surprises, ticket sales, and VIP attendance.
