Celebrating 150 years of Dewsbury!
MY Hospitals Charity are proud to be celebrating 150 years of Dewsbury and District Hospitals amazing commitment to its community. To celebrate this incredible achievement, we will be hosting events and fundraisers all year long to help raise funds to further enhance the vital care at Dewsbury and District Hospital get involved and join our “CLUB 150".
To join us in celebrating 150 years, feel free to explore the events listed below and find out how you want to get involved. What will your 150 be?
You can also text CLUBDDH to 70085 to donate £5, texts cost £5 plus your standard network rate. Donations will help us enhance and support the care given at Dewsbury and District Hospital to keep going above and beyond for our patients and staff.
January
1 January - Challenge 150: Celebrate 150 years of care at Dewsbury and District Hospital! Walk 15,000 steps a day, give something up for 150 days, skydive from 15,000ft, collect 150 donations, or raise £150 your way... Every effort helps inspire change.
5 January - 150 Voices: Auditions will open for our 150 choir performance! 150 NHS colleagues will join together to spread musical cheer through our halls in an exclusive December performance.
15 January - Corporate 150: We will also invite businesses to pledge to become part of Club 150, recognising them as key supporters of our anniversary year.
Coming Soon - 150 Picture: 150 members of staff from Dewsbury and District Hospital will stand together to form the numbers 1, 5, and 0 to create a special anniversary photograph.
February
25 February — Iftar Event: MYHC are hosting their first Iftar gathering for DDH 150, uniting the community in reflection, gratitude, and sharing traditions during the holy month of Ramadan.
February — Donation Spot: A dedicated space to see what impact donations will make with examples for all three sites.
March
1 March — 150 Stories: A collection of 150, 150 word stories from past and present colleagues to showcase the change and growth of Dewsbury and the NHS.
April
1 April — Care To Compete: Your work team raising funds that directly support their ward! Every two months, the team that raises the most or has the most creative fundraiser will win a prize - this could be something like team pizza treat or gift voucher.
May
Coming Soon, May — Car Show: A community car show celebrating vehicles of all kinds - classic cars, vintage models, sports cars and modern favourites. Families, staff and local enthusiasts are invited to display their vehicles, enjoy entertainment, and take part in fundraising activities.
August
23 August — Summer of thanks: Summer Fair at Dewsbury Hospital to celebrate and thank our staff while bringing together the wider community. The event would include family friendly stalls, games, entertainment, and a dedicated staff appreciation area, with support from local businesses and volunteers.
September
1 September — MY Hospitals Charity Bake Off: We’re launching our very own MYHC Bake Off! Get your teams together from across the Trusts to bake your best creations. Each team can vote for their favourite bake to put forward as your entry into the Whole Trust Bake Off, where one team will lift our very first Bake Off Trophy.
October
Coming Soon, October — Halloween Toddle: Get your little ones together and join us for our very first Halloween Toddle around our beautiful 150-year-old site! Each child will receive a glow stick, and you may even bump into some very special guests along the route… We’ll also be hosting a Halloween Market, so feel free to come and enjoy!
November
Club 150 Celebration: On-site celebration inviting everyone involved in CLUB 150 to showcase the incredible work achieved this year and reveal the total raised to date. The event would highlight what’s coming next, including confirmed plans for 2027.
December
150 Voices Showcase: Join us as 150 voices come to sing as one in celebration of 150 years of Dewsbury and District Hospitals. This finale event promises to be a truly special moment, with the potential for surprises, ticket sales, and VIP attendance.
